People ask me all the time “how did you become such a confident business owner?” Ever since I was a little kid I’ve been confident. Maybe because I was encouraged to try new things often. Maybe because, due to my father’s work, we moved often and I had to start over making new friends in new schools across the country. Maybe because I was a musician and performer from an early age. No matter the reason, it’s always been easy for me to feel confident in just about any situation.
I’ve been guiding and consulting for other business owners since 2005 on my own, and before that I consulted to private corporations and government entities as the Executive Director of a research and training organization. I’ve watched thousands of pitches, presentations, and proposals and I can tell within 60 seconds or so who is confident and who is not.
The number one reason small business owners shut down their business is a lack of self confidence. As one of my own mentors says, “You don’t fail as a business owner, you quit.”
Next week on Monday, June 30th I’m teaching the 7 steps I see that are the keys to gaining and keeping what I call high confidence. High confidence is a steady state of belief in yourself and what you are doing – not confidence that waxes and wanes like the moon. I’m going to talk about confidence, the one thing never to do that’s a confidence buster, and the things I’ve done over and over again to build my own businesses.
There’s no charge for this webinar, and you can register by clicking this link. If you do, you’ll join in on finding out how to become a supremely self-confident business owner and you’ll be on my e-mail list for my weekly newsletter, too. Hope to see you there.
PS! You can read an interesting article about gaining self-confidence in business in this Huffington Post article. And you can read more about leading your business confidently by reading this story.

Love the topic and love the background story! I’m sorry I missed this!
PS a great nutritional tool for building confidence is raising serotonin levels with an amino acid like tryptophan. I’d love to hook up and do a combined webinar one of these days – you sharing your expertise about confidence and me sharing mine 🙂
Sue Painter says
Trudy, we can definitely do that. We’ll talk. 🙂
