Instant Speaking SuccessSometimes clients ask me what they can do to guarantee success. They are puzzled about why they are not getting the results they want. I think we all have those moments when we want a guarantee that what we are trying will work.

One way to push yourself toward guaranteed success is to surround yourself with people who inspire you, who move you to do your best work. I've done that my entire life. I pick teachers and mentors who push me and inspire me. One of those people is my coach and friend, Paul Evans.

Paul is the most inspirational speaker I've ever listened to. The other day he sent out a morning message that was so to the point and true that decided to share it here, with all credit to Paul for his words. See what YOU take from his message that will inspire you to guarantee success – your OWN success.

I just left the gym, which I thought would be packed but there was me and only one other person in there, reminding me once again why so many do not have what they desire be it physically, in business, or whatever. There is a different mindset, a different direction, a different work ethic of those who decide they are going to pursue a dream or a goal or a desire or destination. They just do what it takes. If that means getting up early, they get up early. If it means eating things they really don't like for the sake for creating a shape they would like well then that is what they do. If it means creating a business that gives them a certain lifestyle or that they can sell for a million dollars they have a different mindset, a different drive, a different focus, a different reality, a different want, a different “must have” than the average person. Average people do very regular things, very predictable things and expect extraordinary outcomes and we know that is not the way it happens. Regardless of what you are doing today concentrate on the message of what it really takes, what is really required. Whether you want to use the word sacrifice or the word drive or words like intensity or effort or work ethic – whatever the language is for you, choose your language and focus on that word and allow that to fuel your ultimate destination as you take each step toward getting there. Success is not an accident.

I believe Paul's message is completely true. I've worked with many clients who wanted to put in average efforts and expected extraordinary results. We don't guarantee success for ourselves with average efforts. We guarantee success by staying focused, consistent, and inspired. Thanks, Paul, for your truthful and inspiring words.

    Sue,
    The words speak the truth.
    Nothing happens through magic.
    Nothing happens without focus,
drive and effort. The last thing
anyone needs is to be around
people who do not believe in them.

Great post! Words of truth spoken by both of you, in particular you pointed out finding someone who is great at something and in some form making them a mentor to you! I’ve written on this very subject here: http://www.mentrabi.com/find-your-you/

Very inspirational words and I’m in agreement! After coaching over 1000 people I can pretty much tell who is going to succeed in a big way after the first session. There have been a few exceptions who tap into their drive months or years later, but my estimation has been pretty spot on!

I love your comments about surrounding yourself with successful and inspiring people – I do think that is a big part of anyone’s success. Thanks for sharing these wise words from Paul – wise words indeed! Based on how you rave about him I’d like to hear him speak one day and meet him!

Thanks for sharing that. I forget who said, “With hard work comes results” but this talk certainly underscores the value of showing up and putting forth effort to achieve your goals.

Sue, I love this post. As I swam my mile work out in the pool this morning I was thinking similar thoughts. I can really relate that succeeding in life is about self discipline! You are so fortunate to have him as your mentor.
