Great ideas. I’ve been doing more of this over the last year and have noticed a difference in how I feel. It’s very recharging.
Love your advice of the full 3 days – no cheating!
Thanks for the tip sue – I have your orders so now is the time to act!
We have our four children and a large family. We enjoy vacations with each other.
Now that they are sprouting their wings we are not able to all get together at once.
A single one person vacation does not fit our chosen life style. Instead we practice
yoga and work out every single day. These are our personal vacations. For those
who never take a break your advice should be followed.
I’ve taken writer retreats when I go off to a hotel by the water and just write. Even though some would consider that working, to me, being in that environment, knowing I’m there to write, feels wonderful and inspiring. I’m always pleased with the results!
Very inspiring and motivating idea! I’m ready to do it! Tahoe mountains sound like the place especially with the heatwave we’re having here right now
Great idea, Sure! Can’t wait to go on my personal business retreat!
Sue, I love the concept of a second vacation/personal business retreat! I actually had spiritual retreat on my strategic plan this year and this is the kick I needed for it. Thanks!
I started doing this earlier this year with a couple of other women business owners …its a game changer! I did not go alone, but we establish rules so we could all get the creative juices flowing.
Thanks for the great explanation and new tips!
I’ve done this on my own for years and it completely transformed my business. I was amazed at what I could produce in periods of uninterrupted time. It never failed to spark my creativity! My family ate for a long time based on what I created during those retreats. I have two additional small groups (3-4 people) of women CEOs that I’ve added to it. One group has an actual curriculum or agenda for each trip. It has been awesome! I highly encourage others to do the same!
Good advice as always, Sue! It’s so true that changing your environment DOES change your thoughts, it’s already happened to me several times this year travelling across North America alone. Interesting you didn’t suggest any type of place to go, whether to a tropical resort, a place in Europe, or somewhere relatively nearby for those on a tight budget?
Hi Priscilla,
It really doesn’t matter where you go – I suggest going someplace YOU like – some like oceans, some mountains, and so forth. A travel agent I’m not, but I traveled for 20 years on a tight budget – it’s possible to get away and not spend a fortune, for sure. Enjoy!
Priscilla,
After taking these types of trips for years, my best advice is to go where there is no distraction. Of course I love the beach and other beautiful places. If I want to work on my business, I have a small inn in the middle of nowhere that I do my best work at because it’s so peaceful and there’s literally nothing else to do! Believe me. It’s cheap!
