Do you think much about keeping your business safe? A few weeks ago Bill and I took our first lesson in navigating the river and Gulf waters outside the doors of our Florida home. It made me realize that few small business owners are cognizant of how to keep their business in the channel – the safe path toward what it is they want. This 5 minute video talks about the danger waters outside our business markers and how to make sure we're clear about how to navigate between our markers. I'd love to know after you watch this what your own markers are.
- What happens when we get off direction
- Clarity about commitment to income
- The biggest mistake “lifestyle” business owners make
- Why investment is less important than implementation
- How your values always reflect the state of your business
- What keeps you in your own safe channels.

Always keeping the end in mind is the critical component. Where do you want to go?
This must be defined in order to get there.
Love how you tie this back to your boat adventures! Boundaries are a big one and I feel very comfortable with course-correcting. I love this aspect about being a solo biz owner!
Sue, great article. I love the water:-) I think keeping my eye on the end goal, reviewing my goals regularly and creating boundaries is important.
Sue, how wonderful to learn how to navigate on the ocean! I love your analogy to navigating business and business boundaries. I agree that a business takes a regular and ongoing commitment to make it work. As for my business, I think review of my annual strategic goals on a weekly basis is very important to keep me within my boundaries.
Sue,
I really enjoyed your boating tie in with biz. There is always room to course correct on land and on water and especially in business.
Balance is KEY and so is a clear vision.
Write on!~
