Sue you are so correct that the name of a business is so important! I have a client who started years ago with a non descript name and it is hard for them to overcome.

This is such a critically important area which is not given the time and effort it should by many new business owners.

Great advice, Sue. I think it is ok, and sometimes, even beneficial to have a more abstract or less literal business name if it strongly supports your brand in a unique and positive way AND really resonates with your target market, but you do definitely need to test it out with your target market and make sure you aren’t committing any cultural faux pas. Now when it comes to naming products and services, naming is extremely important. You must name products and services based on benefits and results to pique maximum interest and desire.

Great video Sue – Fox Studio – what the? You are spot on that this is way off the mark! And I agree on ActiveSoil – anything that says “soil” says dirty to me – like dirt or even worse soiling oneself – yuk!
