I’ve been asking small business owners what their most burning issue is in their business – and lots of them say it’s time management. But when I look closely it seems to me that time management really isn’t the problem. Here’s why. Be sure to leave a comment!

You are spot on as always. I could certainly do with some better systems in certain areas but those I do have work so well. One good example is the system I have for responding to HARO media queries and I get excellent results by following my step-by-step approach.

Love me some procedures and systems. You are so right, you are wasting your time if you don’t follow a system. Thanks

Sue – great video! Yes, the money is in the follow-up and systems are essential for effective follow-up. “No Time” usually equals “No Systems”. Great point!

Sue, I love “systems” or procedures! 🙂 Very helpful, thank you!

Sue, how insightful to ask the question “what is your biggest problem in your business?” You are so right that systems are needed. I find the more systems I put in place the better I do.

Sue, I love that you are high-lighting the importance of having systems in place. Many entrepreneurs only create systems as an after thought, if ever. I always tell my clients that if you don’t have systems in place, you’re working too hard, and you’re wasting time and money. My motto is, If you have to do anything more that once, figure out the most effective and efficient way to do it, then do it that way all of the time.

I like this. You are so right on! This distracting identification label “time mgt.” is something we learned in the corporate world. It all started with how ‘we’ falsely created time as a measure of how effective someone was in the workplace. Forget that they weren’t actually doing anything (following through on a system) … hey, they are the first one in here and the last one to leave. So they must be good. When one is focused, the time aligns to support the broad impact of that focus.

Yes, i so agree about systems! I am slowly getting a number of systems in place and it is saving me a ton of time! Thanks for the reminder.

Sue, I love that you are curing the cause of the stress. Incorrectly identifying the cause often leads one to countless, wasted hours implementing fixes that won’t fix the real, underlying issue. Always appreciate your messages – You help keep me on track 🙂
