One of the conversations that came up at a retreat I recently attended was a fear of getting ripped off after investing in an expensive coaching program. Of course, “expensive” is in the eyes of the beholder…..but here are my thoughts about this fear and what is behind it, in this video.

Thanks for your comments, Christine. I agree, energy follows thought…always, in every endeavor.

This is a topic that so many people deal with when starting a business online. You have hit some amazing points here Sue! I do believe that it all starts with what you put out there…. if you think you are going to get ripped off, you probably will because you were never focusing on getting rewarded for learning. This can only be blamed on oneself for never “stepping out of their comfort zone”.
I also agree with Jessica… if you aren’t willing to invest in yourself how can you expect other people to be willing to invest in you.
Thanks, Terry.

Sue,
This is very timely and exactly on point.
Terry
I really like these comments – get out of your comfort zone and believe in your worth and you will have to step up
Thanks Sue

Sue — I love this video. Thank you for addressing this issue (and great job doing it while you were still at the retreat!). I think what you said — that energy follows thought — is profoundly true. I have personally found that when I set my thoughts and intentions on a result that I want, things start to happen that are down right mind-blowing.
However, I think it takes courage to think big and to invest in yourself. And culturally (in the US), I believe that we are raised to have low expectations and to be good “worker bees.” So when anyone “dares” to step outside that paradigm, it looks reckless or even irresponsible. I know people around me who I love and respect are blown away at what people pay for top notch coaching. They just can’t believe there are people out there who will pay that much to a coach. They don’ see the value in it because they don’t have any desire to change their own position. They are living the status quo.
But your video is so wise and so are all the comments here. You will never make real progress until you step outside of the status quo, outside of your comfort zone, take a chance and make an investment in yourself. And then, you must be ready to do the hard work that comes from the coaching process. There is no magic pill that will make you successful without effort! With that mindset, you are doomed to have an experience that reinforces your skepticism.
And one other thing I have heard from coaches I respect: if you are building a business that you hope will make multiple six figures or even seven figures, you can’t possibly expect others to invest in your business and offerings if you aren’t willing to do the same for yourself.
Thanks, Sue!
Jessica
Thanks so much for your review and comments, Jessica. I agree, sometimes people don’t have the wish to get out of their comfort zone. I had a coaching client tell me the other day that an issues we’d been discussing (that has a high opportunity cost for her) was “not on the table.” The truth is, if you walk this path there is NOTHING that is not on the table. Try telling that to Ali, David Neagle, and a few other coaches I’ve had, LOL!

Thank you, Katherine. I knew you of all people would get it. 🙂
GREAT video, Sue! So many awesome points. I get so much out of my coaching and truly feel it is all up to me to create my positive coached experience.
“Am I Worth It?” Ah, SUCH an insidious, often hidden block to experiencing ALL we desire in our lives. I see signs of it everywhere I go. You can never create a life for yourself that exceeds what you BELIEVE YOU DESERVE. This is so important that I’ve made it my theme for this year: Self-Love. Here’s a recent blog on Valentine’s that applies all year: http://tinyurl.com/y8bo8at, and I always share this tip:
Pepper your thoughts with “I love myself enough to…” and fill in the blank with whatever is important at the moment. In this case: “I love myself enough to invest in myself and to create a positive experience!”
Thanks, Sue! You are a Rare Blossom, Indeed! -:¦:- ♥ -:¦:- K.
Bravo Sue! You went right to the heart of the issue and hit the nail on the head. What you believe you will receive is exactly what you get back. Investing in yourself and your skills is essential in growing a business and setting the standard for those that you personally coach and mentor. Good job!
Anita
Thanks, Anita.

Sue,
Thanks for discussing this topic. I find it so interesting how people are often seeking a magic bullet and do not want to do the work and others fear the challenge and work needed to grow to the level necessary to find the success they desire. Both categories often seek their solution by shopping based upon price. You get right to the main points on this topic. As always, greatly appreciated.
Great video topic Sue. Love your comment on “Invest largely in yourself, if you want large results”. I’m going to write that one on my Inspirational Quote Wall. – Debbie
Sue thanks for your great video – your essence really comes across and your advice is wise and very poignant. A great reminder to make decisions from the place I want to be rather than the place I am at. I needed to hear that today!
BTW i am intrigued – who are the people inside the window in teh back of the video – I saw them on the second viewing!
Yours Heidi Alexandra Pollard
LOL about the people in the window behind me. I have no idea, I was sitting on the front porch of a lodge up in the Smokies, at a retreat. Right through that window was the reception desk. I think people saw me filming and then went inside and peeked out the window at me! Someone asked if it was my hubby, but no, he was not with me.

As always your perspective is “spot on”. I am so honored to share the MPC mastermind / coaching experience with you and happy to report I learn new things from you all of the time.
Thanks so much for sharing your expertise so freely.
Write on!~
Lisa
Thanks, Lisa. I’m honored by your comment. And, BTW, I learn from you all the time, too!

My wife referred me to your video. Thank you Sue for addressing the feelings of uncertainty when it comes to coaching programs. If we would have decided against doing the programs due to possibly getting ‘bamboozled’ we would have missed out on many great opportunities.
Thanks for bringing awareness.
Dr. Robert Fenell
Thanks for listening, Bob. Bamboozled is sometimes in the eyes of the beholder, seems to me!

Having personally invested in 5 high-level ‘expensive’ coaching programs (2-30K…1-50K…1-100K)..I can say that I made at least 5 times on my investment.
Setting your expectations positively and optimistically is important.
The programs provided me with…
1. Clarity
2. Speed
3. Big Returns
Thanks Sue for being so relevant!
Kiyla
You’re welcome, Kiyla. I love how you set out exactly what you have received from your investments of $$ and time.
Sue P.
Having invested in 5 high level expensive coaching programs personally..(2-$30K..1-50K..1-100K) I can safely say I made at least 5 times the return on my investment.
Setting your expectations positively and optimistically is key.
Every coaching program gave me
1. Clarity
2. Speed
3. Big Returns
Sue…your video was very relevant…Thank you.

Having personally invested in 5 high level ‘expensive’ coaching programs (2-$30K+..1-$50K…1-$100K)…I can say that with every experience I made at least 5 times what I invested.
I agree with setting your expectations positively and optimistically.
Investing big money in coaching programs for me has always provided three things:
1. Speed
2. Clarity
3. Big Returns
Sue…I think your video was very relevant..Thank you.
Sue – This is so important and so powerful. Another key point is that you can only take clients where you yourself have been willing to go. I see so many so-called coaches/consultants that seek to charge a lot for their programs, but aren’t willing to invest themselves.
This creates real dissonance…
Being willing to step up and play bigger allows you to do the same for your clients!
Thanks for the great video!
Phil
Phil,
I agree about people who want to “play big” but then don’t believe in themselves enough to step up to a higher level. Hard to coach from that perspective when you’ve not experienced it.
Sue P.
I love this topic and all the points you raised in the video! Excellent advice and thought provoking questions. I strongly believe that you need to take responsibility for your choice to participate in a big figure coaching program. Do your due diligence. If you get ideas and support that makes you an extra $100,000 because you signed up to a $10,000 program, its more than worth it!
Hi Joanna,
Yes, I agree, one should check a program out thoroughly, and then enter fully. 🙂
Sue P.
HI Sue,
Loved your video. Not only do we have this ‘not worth it’ belief that leads to putting such a ‘lid’ on our potential, but uncovering it as you have done for so many with your video is the first step in raising that lid and taking a peek at what the world really has to offer you. Thanks Sue, you put it so great!
Lynn
You’re welcome! The “I’m not worth it, but yet I’m worth it for someone else to invest in working with me” doesn’t fly far, does it?
Sue P.
Thanks for your comment, Laura. I love the way you say trusting intuition shows us where to be.
Sue P.
I agree that we create our own experience. So if we want to have a fantastic time and get tons out of something, than we need to align our energy with that experience.
If we trust our intuition we’ll be drawn to the places and people that will take us further along on our journey.
Thanks Sue for reminding people to make their decisions from the place of what they want rather than fear!
